Susan Dopp: Element

The Cube
8 Howard Cook Rd
Roswell, NMM 88201

July 5-12, 2013
Opening Reception: Friday, July 5, 6-9 PM

The Cube presents Roswell-based artist Susan Dopp’s latest installation Element. Embracing water, light, shadow, motion, and sound to develop an interactive experience the installation is primarily intended as a visual/auditory piece. However, as each component reflects the complex properties of nature and embodies time sensitive reactions and viewer perceptions the piece maintains infinite potential at revelatory experience.

Dopp says that working with sheets of glass to create layers of shadow, many of which are all but invisible to the naked eye, may invoke a perceptual shift while viewing the installation. The artist further references that the inclusion of water into installation reflects a heartfelt prayer and yearning for the rain South Eastern New Mexico so desperately needs.

This will be The Cube’s final exhibition. After hosting monthly exhibitions since November of 2012 director Ryder Richards must deinstall the gallery and prepare to move back to Dallas. In regards to the closing of The Cube Richards said, “Roswell has been extremely supportive of The Cube’s alternative programming and I will miss all the fun conversations with new friends.”
