XXX-XXX-XXXX
by Michael Mazurek and Jesse Morgan Barnett
Friday, April 5 from 6-9 PM
The Cube, Roswell
As part of the ongoing First Friday exhibition seriesĀ The Cube presents XXX-XXX-XXXX, an investigation of the communicative role of the gallery. Developed by Dallas based artists Michael Mazurek and Jesse Morgan Barnett, co-founders of the Dallas Biennial, the exhibit offers a conceptual, yet communal, reversal of the static gallery.
In lieu of a fixed art object, XXX-XXX-XXXX employs its surrogate, wherein the importation and exportation of data supersedes the display of a concluded activity. The positioning of an intermediary object (fax machine) allows for the possibility of communication with the goal of establishing an active, ongoing, and open ended idea over one which is finalized prior to reception.
The artists have thus opted for a vessel which negates predetermination in favor of potentiality and improvisation. Through the transferral of information during the exhibition, XXX-XXX-XXXX suggests a redeployment of the hierarchy between location, object and space.
Please join us on Friday, April 5th, from 6-9 PM at The Cube, 8 Howard Cook Rd., Roswell. Ryder will provide some munchies and a small mountain of beer for the faithful to move.
how much are the tickets?
The show is free, but with all those X’s you may need to budget for an ambulance ride and a pace-maker.
