Cancellation I: no longer afraid of the dark

Continuing to play on my current fixation with shadows and pattern I am removing even more of the figure. Of course the figure is implied, but I am enjoying offering less and less of the actual characters and allowing the surroundings to form the content.
Cancellation II: will not cry in public

By the way, these are most likely my last two drawing on the “hercules and centaur” and “rape of the sabine” pieces for a while. I think I am up to 15 drawings based on these two sculptures in last month. I will pend my remaining two weeks before install focusing on the remaining details and one more sculptural piece for my upcoming exhibition Conflicted at the Roswell Museum.
I would say, as usual, the longer I work with a subject matter the more intriguing it becomes and the better the art-work I create based around it. I would hazard to say these are some of the more successful drawing I have executed in a while.
P.S. The addition text in the titles of these and the Condescension drawings are lyrics out of Radiohead’s “Fitter, Happier.”
