The latest riff from the studio on Giambologna’s “Hercules Fighting the Centaur Nessus.” Continuing to fragment the figures while stripping off content and then adding more, such as extra legs, this latest piece has a few small developments that keep me excited. One is the interlocking pieces, and two is the multiple angles at play that allow all of these pieces to fit together. Building these structures at 9, 15, and 35 degree angles so they overlap other pieces was a pain in the butt, but it seems to pay off by providing more action with less material and more dynamic shadows.

This may be the last piece in this series. I am prepping for the show install on the 11th and the opening on the 22nd. After that I may take a detour into some very different art.
